History of the stud

We began breeding Wessex Saddleback Pigs in 1995. We purchased a purebred sow which was supposed to be 'in pig'. Originally our primary goal was to breed for ourselves great tasting pork products. After a couple of months it became apparent that she was ‘empty’. When we begun looking for a boar to serve her we discovered that there were only two boars left in Victoria and they were her father and brother. She herself was the product of a brother to sister mating.

After a lot of searching, we began to understand the precarious state of the breed in Australia. We located a few remnant animals, updated their registrations and began to put together what is today the largest stud breeding Wessex Saddleback population in all of Australia.
